I installed the Intiminators along with the Ricor shock on my '05 650 V-Strom and what a difference they have made! The Intiminators effectively eliminate brake dive and yet the forks are very supple over the broken road surfaces here in Minnesota. The bike is considerably more planted and even extremely rough road surfaces will not cause it to vary off line. Very confidence inspiring.

Front forks: Stock except for Intiminators. by the book installation. Setting: Top adjustments all the way out. Rear shock: Stock, Setting: All the way in. Rider weight #165, added weight, centerstand, crashbars. Full tank of gas Suspension sag set to 1/4 of travel. The good news: No more clunk or brake dive. This is a win win situation regardless if you ride dirt or street. Personally I prefer the more dirt oriented ride. When riding dirt before the Intiminators the clunking had me a little nervous, but after Intiminators my confidence in this bikes suspension has doubled. To get this kind of result, you usually have to send the suspension to a specialist. I commend RICOR for making Intiminators DIY friendly. The Bad: $$$

I like my Intiminators a lot. They have smoothed out washboard on both bad pavement and off road as well as controlling the major brake dive this front suspension is well know to have. I re-tuned the Intiminators to suit my riding (I'm not a desert racer) and the result is great. Installation was easy and removal and reinsertion for re-tuning was easier.

Intiminators on a DL650 |

I'll add just a short follow-up to the Intiminator install since I've now got a few hundred more miles to test the results. Prior to the Intiminator install I was running max preload adjustment with Wilbers springs and elected to "cram" the caps back on with no cutting of the spacers when I installed the Intiminators. Well, so much for my understanding of how the new valve would affect the compression damping. Although it felt great riding on smoother surfaces, and the feedback was good, the very rough roads with broken and patched pavement became too uncomfortable. Pulled the caps and installed some spacers which were about 12mm (1/2") shorter and all is well. Not quite as ridged but excellent overall...and just the way Ricor suggests doing the install.
So, I guess the take-away here is that stock springs and shorter spacers are going to work out well for many since the Intiminators have such a dramatic effect on compression damping. Live and learn...YRMV!

Wee Strom major improvement. |

I purchased the Intiminator based on Advrider reviews. Riding Skills, maybe a begin/intermediate. Wrenching skills intermediate. Installation at first worried me, not having torn into a motorcycle that much before, but using a tutorial posted on Adv, proved to be fun and not very difficult. Time approx 2 hrs, most of which was checking and double checking instructions. I didn't get a chance to fully test the improvement until a dual sport trip in Sept in eastern Oregon, riding about 40% dirt/gravel/washboard, and 60% mixed quality pavement. Major Improvement over stock WeeStrom clunking front end. No more clunk! Smooth, supple on washboard. A ziptie on the fork showed me I was using the full travel, though it never seemed like the fork was moving that much. Highly recommend these for ease of install, and ride improvement
